A search of the causes of mononeuropathy must include consideration of systemic and local disorders. Isolated glossopharyngeal nerve paralysis can be indirectly occurred by nasopharyngeal tumor, leukemia, myasthenia gravis and so on. Therefore, we should be enough physical inspection, blood and radiologic examination. We report a case of idiopathic transient unilateral glossopharyngeal paralysis with literatures review.
